In honor of author Ronni Lundy’s new book Victuals: An Appalachian Journey with Recipes, Big Jones is hosting an evening of culinary wonders from the southern mountains. Chef and Co-Owner Paul Fehribach welcomes the author with a featured Piggybank Dinner at the Andersonville restaurant on April 20, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Chef Fehribach met Lundy through the Southern Foodways Alliance (SFA) and with so much in common, the two quickly became friends. In honor of the shared connection, this dinner benefits the SFA, furthering its work of documenting and celebrating the changing foodways of the American South.
Lundy’s newest book highlights Appalachian cooking and offers a picture of community, industry, and art in the region. Big Jones, with its acclaimed southern heirloom focus, is the perfect setting for Lundy to introduce her work to the Chicago market and Chef Fehribach and his crew will prepare recipes from the book for a night inspired by the mountain region’s diverse cuisine. Throughout the evening, Lundy will tell stories and sign books for diners, as mountain music and SFA documentaries play in the background.
This event is $75 per person or $125 per couple and includes a personalized, signed copy of Victuals: An Appalachian Journey with Recipes and a $50 per person donation to the Southern Foodways Alliance. More information is available by visiting http://bigjoneschicago.com/ and reservations can be made by calling (773) 275-5725. The full menu is viewable here.
