Whether you are grabbing dinner before catching a show at the House of Blues or want to show off your chopstick skills to your special someone, you are in great hands with the outstanding service and cuisine at Katana Sushi and Robata Grill.
With only two other locations in the world (West Hollywood and Dubai), Chicago diners are fortunate to have Katana calling the city home for its third and newest location. Perfect for lovers of Japanese cuisine and those looking to expand their palate, Katana has a little something for everyone with their tapas-style menu. Check out our picks below!
Cold Starters
You’ll be cool as a (not too) Spicy Sesame Cucumber “Sunomono” ($7) if you start off the evening with a bowl of this addicting snack!
Spice things up a little more with the “Hanabi” ($16). This spicy tuna-topped crispy rice makes for a delightful bite-sized treat!
Hot Starters
Crunch on the Asupara Niku Maki ($17), a thin slice of rib eye wrapped around a short stalk of asparagus and glazed with a soy mirin sauce.
Or make it sweeter with the Popcorn Shrimp ($19), tempura-fried and tossed in a syrup-y miso glaze.
Got any non-adventurous eaters at the table? Play it safe with the Tori No Tatsuga Age ($14), a Japanese fried chicken staple served with cilantro mayo and Japanese mustard sauce for dipping.
Traditional Wagyu Gyoza ($14) packs a ton of deliciously unique flavor with or without the accompanying spicy ponzu sauce and kimchee.

Robotayaki
Directly translated to “cooking with an open flame”, specifically utilizing Binchotan, a special Japanese charcoal from the seaside village of Wakayama. Each robotayaki is served on skewers in small portions, infused with a unique smoky richness. Pick many to share and enjoy! We vote indulging in:
Ebi Bacon ($10) - jumbo shrimp wrapped with bacon in a chili garlic sauce.
Negima ($4) - chicken and green onions
Suzuki ($8) - Chilean seabass
Saikyo Yaki ($13) - miso marinated black cod
Gyu ($8) - aged rib eye
Sushi Rolls
The beauty of sushi is that you can make it an appetizer, palate cleanser or your entire meal. Whatever you choose, we recommend these three rolls:
Katana ($20) - spicy tuna, tuna sashimi, jalapeno and yuzu oil
Kani Maki ($11) - creamy baked crab wrapped in soy paper
White Lotus ($22) - shrimp tempura, avocado and asparagus topped with salmon and crispy onions in truffled soy
