As the holiday season approaches, we know that many Chicagoans will be pressed to find a private dining space for festive family or company gatherings within Chicago’s vast dining scene. The spaces outlined below can host groups both small and large - including full restaurant buyouts and large holiday party options.

Bellemore

Bellemore features what Chef/Partner Jimmy Papadopoulos calls “Bright, Bold, and Beautiful” cuisine. Designed by Karen Herold of Studio K, the interiors feature brass details accentuating natural elements. Bellemore’s private dining room, The Parlor, evokes classic civility, with bookshelves full of artifacts and a view into the kitchen. Floor to ceiling windows allow natural light to warm the dimly lit space with deep navy walls and an expansive custom mural. The Parlor comfortably accommodates up to 30 guests for a seated event.

Boka

Boka, which is Boka Restaurant Group’s namesake restaurant, has a successful culinary tradition over its 15 years in Chicago. With 8 consecutive Michelin Stars, and multiple James Beard nominations already under its belt, Boka continues to evolve with new Chef/Partner Lee Wolen. Boka has gone through an extensive redesign with design group Simeone Deary. The glass enclosed terrace may be reserved fully private with a three to five course tasting menu from Chef Wolen’s contemporary American cuisine. Full buyouts may also be accommodated throughout the terrace, main dining room and front room.

Cold Storage 

Located at 1000 W. Fulton Market and attached to Swift & Sons, this “restaurant within a restaurant” offers a casual seafood menu from Executive Chef Chris Pandel. Named for the original Fulton Market Cold Storage that stood in the location previously, the space features industrial concrete walls and high ceilings. The decor is in sync with a traditional oyster bar; the marble top tables and bar make the space ideal for a reception style event for up to 60 guests.

Commons Club at the Virgin Hotels Chicago 

Through the lens of globally-inspired chef Moosah Reaume, Commons Club offers an eclectic menu with reinvented takes on contemporary American dishes. Bringing culinary delight to the downtown Chicago restaurant landscape by combining unexpected ingredients with bold flavors, Commons Club infuses a relaxed, yet elegant experience. Whether an intimate party, or a large celebration for up to 150 guests, Commons Club has your event covered.

The Casting Room at Miss Ricky’s within the Virgin Hotels Chicago

A modern casual diner with welcoming flair. Located on the ground floor, Miss Ricky’s offers a fun and energetic atmosphere. The Casting Room inside of the diner offers a space for a more intimate event, complete with curtain-covered walls, velvet lounges and vintage gold stage lights.

Duck Duck Goat

Duck Duck Goat is Chef Stephanie Izard’s Chinese-American menu, and features hand pulled noodles, house made dumplings, wontons, spring rolls and more, ensuring no diner leaves hungry. The space represents a dream-like version of the stores and shops that can be found in all quintessential Chinatowns in America. The Jade Lounge is available for private events to 18 guests. It is separated from the adjacent bar by French doors affixed with gilded dragons and can be made completely private from the main dining room. A full buyout is also available and accommodates 100 seated and 125 cocktail.

Girl & the Goat

The Underground Goat is not your typical private dining space. Guests will be led downstairs, through the restaurant and into the "staff only" halls of the Goat. Once you've arrived, you'll find a cozy and candle lit room that echoes the casual, rustic atmosphere of the main dining room.

Little Goat Diner

Located on the second floor, Little Goat Kitchen provides a multi-functional space for private events. This space includes an open kitchen, inside bar, and a rooftop terrace with views of the city. The dining room can accommodate up to 40 guests for a seated meal and up to 75 guests for a reception-style event. Little Goat Kitchen may also be used to host interactive cooking classes, as well as daytime meetings and events.

Dutch & Doc’s

Located just 300 feet from home plate and the historic Wrigley Field marquee, Dutch & Doc’s serves American fare from Executive Chef Chris Pandel. The space is reminiscent of America’s pastime and features two floors of seating. There is a private dining room on the 2nd floor with windows that open fully to Clark Street below. The Snug Dining Room may be reserved for seated dinners up to 24 guests, or reception style events up to 40 guests.

GT Fish & Oyster

The shareable seafood-focused menu by Giuseppe Tentori combines a mix of modern and traditional dishes. The space is chic and comfortable and was created by designers 555 International. The Whale Room features a completely private setting for any occasion, and large groups are welcome to in the main space for partial or full restaurant buyouts.

GT Prime

Perched above the open concept kitchen, the Owl Room offers a secluded dining respite for groups up to 16 guests. The Chef’s Table is available for parties up to 8 guests who wish to embrace the full culinary experience allowing guests to enjoy a sneak peak into the inner workings of the kitchen while enjoying Chef Tentori’s inviting tasting menu.

J. Parker 

Sitting above the Hotel Lincoln, the J. Parker offers spectacular views of Chicago. With unobstructed water and skyline views, signature cocktails, and seasonal cuisine, it’s sure to be a great backdrop for your next event. The J. Parker is a year-round destination as its rooftop is fully retractable with a winterized glass atrium. It is a nice spot for group reservations of 8-65 as well as Atrium and full buyouts.

Momotaro

Momotaro, named one of Esquire Magazine’s Best New Restaurants, is a multi-dimensional Japanese restaurant located in the West Loop. Chef Mark Hellyar oversees the Japanese seasonal kitchen. Momotaro, designed by AvroKO, also contains a subterranean Izakaya with private dining room, and a second floor private space - “the Boardroom” - that overlooks the main dining room.

Swift & Sons

Located in the heart of the Fulton Market District, Swift & Sons is the steakhouse dining destination in the West Loop. The floor plan includes an oyster bar, upper and lower level Tavern, an expansive main dining room as well as two private dining rooms with adjacent private bar. Design firm AvroKO has created a space indicative of a classic Chicago style steakhouse updated with modern finishes and décor. The space offers a multitude of options for private events including a butcher’s table and private dining room, as well as full buyouts.

Somerset

Somerset’s secret space escapes even the most savvy voyagers. Located on the 2nd floor of Somerset, The Regatta Room offers an exclusive private dining experience for groups up to 22 guests, seated at one long Captain’s table. The space echoes the style of the main dining room, allowing guests to regale in the glory of speed boat racing. For semi private parties, guests can opt for The Upper Deck, which is situated on the second floor balcony of Somerset. With direct views of the 18 foot brass chandelier and open dining room below, this space offers comfort and seclusion for parties up to 18 guests.

The Press Room's, The Sidebar Cellar- a wine room and private event space, is a charming backdrop to small gatherings. With just 14 seats, it’s as intimate as it gets. Exposed brick, reclaimed wood, vintage framed photographs and news articles, and wine—bottles and bottles of wine—give the 150-square-foot space an inviting vibe.
